Gas Springs, or Struts, are used to provide a counterbalance or force assistance in a diverse array of products and applications, as well as increasingly being specified for their effective damping and end-stop characteristics. Whatever the purpose, the innovative devices can be implemented to achieve comfortable and reliable adjustment, increasing the quality and ease of use of the end products.

A gas spring's effectiveness is founded on the potential energy of compressed gas, and compared to mechanical springs, they offer a number of important advantages. These include compact construction, making them extremely simple to design into products and systems; straightforward, fast assembly, minimising production times and costs; and the ability to achieve a controlled end stop - Furthermore, the latest Gas Springs have been developed to offer flexibility of operation, with Linear, digressive or progressive functionality; damped motion control that is definable over specific positions or the full stroke; and providing an infinitely lockable solution. Variations on the standard components can also be specified, combining properties to meet the requirements of any application; for example, devices with dampened adjustment motion are frequently used in combination with end-position locking. A further variant is the design of devices with dampened motion and progressive spring characteristics.
