What are thrust tapered roller bearings and where are they used?

Thrust tapered roller bearings are designed to accommodate heavy axial and peak loads. However, they are not tolerant of any level of radial load.

These bearings consist of a shaft washer, a housing washing and a roller and cage assembly. The raceways are built into the face of the washers.

Single and double direction designs of this bearing are available.

Thrust tapered roller bearings are commonly used in gearboxes, pumps, cone crushers and extruders. They are particularly applicable to the mining and quarrying industry, where heavy thrust loads are common.
