How do pilot bore timing pulleys work and where are they found?
Pilot bore timing pulleys are toothed wheels which interlock with the teeth of the matching timing belt to transmit power across an application.
How do pilot bore timing pulleys work?
The grooves in the pulley mesh with the teeth of the timing belt to avoid slippage. The tension of the belt, combined with the friction of the meshed grooves and teeth cause the pulley and shaft to rotate together, conveying motion.
Pilot bore timing pulleys are supplied with a small pilot hole which will need to be fully machined to fit the shaft before mounting.
Where are pilot bore timing pulleys used?
Every application which uses a timing belt will also need a matching timing pulley, whether that’s pilot bored or tapered bored.
