How does the jaw coupling work?
The Jaw Coupling, which is suitable for standard power applications, moderate shock loads and small vibrations, consists of two hubs and an element. Also available is the Jaw Spacer Coupling which consists of two hubs, two rings, two elements and a spacer.
Features & Benefits of the Jaw Coupling
- Cost effective solution
- Maintenance-free
- Easy to install

Straight-Jaw Couplings FAQs
What information do I need to specify a straight-jaw coupling?
To specify the correct straight-jaw coupling, we’ll typically need: shaft diameters and tolerances, required torque or kW and speed (rpm), shaft–shaft distance (if using a spacer), operating environment (temperature, chemicals, moisture), and any misalignment or shock loading. Our team can help you gather the key data and recommend a suitable coupling.
Are the hubs and inserts supplied together or separately?
Straight-jaw couplings are usually supplied as separate components: two hubs and one insert. On our website, these are often ordered individually so you can mix and match hub bores and insert materials to suit your application.
