What is a clearance adjustable type linear ball bearing?
A clearance adjustable type linear ball bearing is a linear bushing designed to allow adjustment of the internal radial clearance between the balls and the shaft. This is achieved through a slotted outer ring and a matching adjustable housing, or an eccentric / clamping arrangement that slightly deforms the outer race to tighten or loosen the fit on the shaft.
Clearance adjustable linear ball bearings typically offer:
- Smooth, low‑friction linear motion
- Adjustable radial clearance and preload
- Higher stiffness and reduced play when required
- Ability to compensate for shaft or bearing wear over time
- Compatibility with standard precision shafts
They are commonly used where positional accuracy, repeatability and rigidity are more demanding than with standard fixed‑clearance linear bushings.
