What bushing materials are available?

SKF manufacture bushings in a range of materials to suit every application and industry, 

SKF Solid Bronze Bushings

Solid bronze bushings are the traditional material. This material is suitable for the widest range of applications, particularly those operating in harsh or contaminated environments. Solid bronze bushings are resistant to shock loads and vibrations at low speeds. 

SKF Sintered Bronze Bushings

Sintered bronze bushings are both self-lubricating and maintenance-free. The high sliding velocity of these bushings makes them ideal for rotating applications including printing machinery and machine tools. 

SKF Wrapped Bronze Bushings

Wrapped bronze bushings are ideal for use in highly contaminated environments. The sliding surface of these bushings is covered in diamond shaped pockets which are filled with grease. These pockets gradually release lubricant onto the bushing, protecting the surface from contamination and reducing the relubrication intervals. 

SKF PTFE Composite Bushings

PTFE composite bushings provide maintenance-free operation in heavy load applications. They combine the strength of steel with the low frictional coefficient of PTFE. This material is ideal for automotive applications, as well as material handling equipment and home appliances. 

SKF POM Composite Bushings

POM composite bushings require the tiniest trace of lubricant for a long period of operation. They have a very high load carrying capacity, as well as a high sliding velocity. They are commonly found in agricultural equipment, construction machinery and home appliances.
