What are the benefits of using double row angular contact ball bearings?
When you need an angular contact ball bearing which can take axial load in two directions, you have two options: install two single row angular contact bearings in a back to back configuration, or specify a double row angular contact ball bearing.
Double row angular contact ball bearings have many benefits, including:
Requires less axial space
One double row angular contact ball bearing takes up less space than two single row angular contact bearings. In applications where axial space is limited, this is an important consideration.
Accommodates radial as well as axial loads in either direction
For a single row angular contact bearing to be able to support axial load in both directions, you would need to install a second bearing in a back to back configuration. This is not necessary with double row angular contact bearings as they are able to support axial load in either direction with just one bearing.
Accommodates tilting moments
Double row angular contact ball bearings have the capability to accommodate tilting moments. This means that tilting moments will not cause damage or wear to the bearing, extending service life.
