What are the benefits of using two-bearing housings?
Two bearing housings were originally created by SKF for use in fan shafts with an overhung impellor. However, two-bearing housings are also suitable for use in a range of other applications with similar shaft arrangements.
Two-bearing housings provide several advantages over the conventional method of mounting two self-aligning bearings in separate plummer or pillow blocks:
Improved running accuracy
As the bearings are mounted together, the chance of misalignment is greatly reduced. This helps to prolong the life of the bearings and improve efficiency.
Quieter operation
Mounting the two bearings together reduces the noise created by the bearings. This is in part due to the improved alignment of the bearings.
