What are double row tapered roller bearings and where are they used?
The double-row tapered roller bearing assembly has tapered contact angles that allow them to support both radial and axial thrust loads simultaneously. The two rows of tapered rollers give the bearing an outstanding load capacity, making these bearings one of the most robust. These bearings have a low friction design, which reduces the running temperature of the bearing, increasing efficiency and prolonging the life of the bearing
Used in gearboxes, rolling mills, and hoisting equipment, particularly in the mining and quarrying industry, this type of bearing is available in two different versions, however, both ultimately consist of cups and cones.
- Double-cone type: This assembly has two separate cups which fit onto one dual cone.
- Double-cup type: This assembly has two separate cones which fit into the ends of one dual cup.
