What is the difference between one piece and two piece shaft collars?

A one piece collar is a single split ring that must be slid over the end of the shaft. A two piece collar splits completely into two halves and can be installed without access to the shaft end. Two piece collars typically offer slightly higher holding power and easier installation in confined spaces, but one piece collars are simpler and often more economical.

How do I size a one piece shaft collar?

Match the collar bore directly to the shaft diameter (e.g. 25 mm shaft = 25 mm collar bore), taking into account shaft tolerances. The collar is designed to clamp down slightly as the screw is tightened, providing the necessary grip.
