SKF launch mobile apps that offer help on bearings and belts

SKF is a leading global supplier of bearings, seals, lubrication systems, and mechatronics. It is represented in more than 130 countries with around 15,000 distributors worldwide.

They have now announced that they have developed a range of mobile apps that will help users access a range of information, as well as making relevant calculations and analyses.


According to the company, the apps will deliver the knowledge of SKF engineers straight to the user’s iPhone, or iPad. Users can then analyse, calculate and determine the correct solution to their mechanical problem, as well as learn more about SKF products.

Tom Johnstone, President and CEO for SKF said: “Our vision is to equip the world with SKF knowledge as the world becomes more mobile, we can use technology to make our knowledge available to customers, partners and students.

“The use of mobile devices is increasing rapidly and becoming an invaluable tool for many people. By making our knowledge more readily available on mobile devices, we make it easier and faster for our stakeholders to get the answers they need.”

The apps, which will soon be released on Android too, can be downloaded free of charge in over 60 countries.

They include SKF Care, an app that that describes how the company conducts its business from a social, ethical and environmental perspective.

The SKF Bearing Calculator allows users to search and conduct calculations on bearing products wherever you are, while the SKF DialSet allows you to easily calculate re-lubrication quantities for bearings. The SKF seals app gives users access to the world of seals on the go, and the SKF Belt Calculator makes it possible for field engineers and those in technical sales to check the quality of existing belt drive designs at the touch of a finger.

The SKF Automotive Parts gives you the latest information on SKF’s premium spare parts, products and relevant information. Information on SKF products, solutions and events is also available through the SKF Distributor News app. And if registered customers wish to access information on availability, or even check their purchase history, they can use the SKF Web Customer Link app.

There is therefore no stone that has been left unturned by the company, and their attention to customers on the move means that they are sure to continue their sterling reputation as one of the best in the industry.
