What are the advantages of choosing a Gates PolyChain® polyurethane timing belt?

Gates PolyChain® GT2 PU belt

PolyChain® combines the outstanding reliability of Gates timing belts and combines it with the robust construction of polyurethane.

The nylon tooth facing of this belt provides a durable wear surface. This helps to extend service life by reducing wear. Minimal downtime, reduced chance of machine breakdown and improved productivity are the result of PolyChain® timing belts.

The robust polyurethane construction of this belt is complemented by high-strength aramid tensile cords. This helps to keep stretch to a minimum whilst dramatically increasing the strength of this belt, making PolyChain® ideal for even the heaviest duty of applications.

PolyChain® also offers outstanding resistance to chemicals, oils, pollutants and abrasion, meaning that this belt is suitable for use in contaminated environments and harsh operating conditions.

Gates Polychain FAQs

What is a polychain belt?

A PolyChain belt is a high-performance synchronous belt made from polyurethane with high-strength carbon fibre or aramid fibre tensile cords. It can handle high torque and heavy loads, operates synchronously for precise motion control, and requires no lubrication, reducing maintenance needs. PolyChain belts run quietly, resist wear and chemicals, and offer high energy efficiency. They are versatile and used in various applications, including industrial machinery, automotive, and robotics, where reliability and performance are crucial.

What is the difference between poly chain and V belt?

PolyChain belts are designed for high load capacity, synchronous operation, and low maintenance, making them ideal for demanding applications. V belts are more suited for lighter-duty applications, relying on friction for power transmission and requiring more maintenance.
