Acorn’s First Ever Work Placement Success

Work placement

From Wales High School in Kiveton Park, Sheffield, Year 10 student Claudia Titterton has been the first student to undertake work placement at Acorn Industrial Services Ltd (CDC), one of the UK’s leading distributors of bearings, power transmission components and linear systems.

Claudia started her two week work placement from 7th – 17th July, with no expectations of what it was like to work in an office environment.

She spent the two weeks at Acorn working in various departments including marketing, customs, sales, purchasing and the warehouse. Covering jobs from sending leaflets out to customers to unpacking deliveries and storing them on the warehouse racking.

One of the benefits Acorn has to offer students on work placement is the vast variety of jobs there is to do, students can get an idea of all the different processes that are involved in keeping a company like Acorn running smoothly.

Claudia revealed:

“It has been good to go around the office and see all the different roles people have at Acorn. I’ve gained a real insight into what it’s like to work here, and to see how everything functions.”

Before her work placement, Claudia was unsure about what career path she wanted to take, after her time at Acorn, Claudia has decided she would like to work in a practical working environment where she can take a more hands on approach in her day to day job.

Claudia hasn’t been the only one to benefit from this experience, staff at Acorn that had the opportunity to work with Claudia were full of praises. Richard Hewitt, Marketing Manager revealed:

“During the time Claudia has spent in marketing she has been a massive help from start to finish. I’m glad Claudia enjoyed her time working in the marketing department in particular.”

After Acorn’s first ever work placement success, the company look forward to future students that wish to spend their placement with them.
