MRO Specialist

40 Hours per week (9:00am–18:00pm)

Regional Manager

JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT  

Will be responsible for supporting the continued growth and development of Acorn’s MRO business across existing and prospective customers. The role will focus on providing a professional, knowledgeable and responsive service to customers requiring industrial components, engineering consumables and technical product support. 

You will also be expected to develop strong commercial relationships, identify sales opportunities, promote Acorn’s full product and service offering and contribute to the achievement of branch, regional and company sales objectives.

Responsible For:

  • Acting as a specialist point of contact for customers requiring MRO products, engineering components and industrial consumables.
  • Managing customer enquiries from initial request through to quotation, order placement, delivery and aftersales support.
  • Sourcing and supplying a broad range of MRO products
  • Providing customers with accurate product information, technical support and suitable alternatives where required.
  • Working with approved suppliers and manufacturers to obtain competitive pricing, availability, lead times and technical data.
  • Preparing professional quotations, tender responses and supply proposals in line with customer requirements and company pricing guidelines.
  • Identifying opportunities to grow sales across existing accounts through proactive customer contact, product recommendations and cross-selling of Acorn’s wider product range.
  • Supporting new business development activity by identifying potential MRO opportunities within target sectors and customer accounts.
  • Maintaining awareness of market conditions, supplier developments, product innovation and competitor activity within the MRO and industrial supply sector.
  • Working towards agreed sales targets, margin expectations, service levels and key performance indicators.
  • Undertaking any additional reasonable tasks and responsibilities requested by management in order to support the continued success and performance of the branch, department and wider company.
  • Abiding by the company’s confidentiality requirements when carrying out all duties as part of the role.

  • Strong negotiation skills when dealing with suppliers and customers.
  • Proactive and solutions-focused approach to customer service.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing positively as part of a wider team.
  • Confident in identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate products or service solutions.
  • Professional, reliable and committed to maintaining high standards of service.

 

Knowledge Required:

  • Good understanding of the MRO, industrial supplies, engineering distribution or maintenance sector.
  • Product knowledge across a range of industrial categories, ideally including bearings, power transmission, seals, lubricants etc.
  • Knowledge of supplier sourcing, pricing structures, lead times and product alternatives.
  • Understanding of sales margin, quotation management and order processing.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

 

Experience (and/or) Qualifications Required:

  • Previous experience within an MRO, industrial distribution, engineering supplies, technical sales or customer service environment.
  • Experience dealing directly with customers and suppliers.
  • Experience preparing quotations and processing customer orders.
  • Proven ability to manage customer enquiries efficiently and professionally.
  • Strong understanding of industrial products and customer service expectations within a fast-paced supply environment
  • Full clean UK drivers Licence
