Purchasing Manager

WORKING HOURS:
40 Hours per week (9:00am–18:00pm)

JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing a £25 million spend and £7 million inventory. The role involves managing a dynamic team, building strong supplier relationships, and implementing effective procurement strategies to ensure the company's purchasing operations run smoothly and efficiently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES

Team Management: Lead and manage the purchasing team, including task prioritization, issue escalation, mentoring, and performance management.

Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong supplier relationships. This includes visiting UK-based suppliers and occasional international travel (3-4 trips per year) and overnight stays.

Range Development: Collaborate with the Product Team to identify, validate, and integrate new products and suppliers, ensuring internal standards are met.

Demand Planning: Develop and implement processes to maintain the right stock levels in line with customer demand schedules and forecasts, engaging regularly with Sales and Product teams.

Financial Performance: Lead initiatives for cost reductions and value additions across all suppliers, including negotiating price, MOQ, MOV, specification, shipping costs, rebate generation, and payment terms

Continual Improvement: Identify, validate, and implement process improvements within the Purchasing department to remove/reduce risk and inefficiencies.

Quality Management: Manage and resolve issues identified through purchasing non-conformances and customer complaints, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.

Social & Ethical Responsibility: Support the company's CSR program by managing the supplier portfolio and selecting global transportation options.

Administration: Ensure accurate records are maintained in the ERP system, enabling effective report generation and data analysis. Collaborate with Warehouse and Finance teams to resolve stock and invoicing issues.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Proven experience in a Purchasing Manager role or similar.

Strong team management and leadership skills.

Excellent negotiation and supplier management abilities.

Proficient in demand planning and inventory management.

Strong Excel skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to travel as required.
